South East Governors Urged To Reject FG Cattle Colony Proposal

A concerned Nigerian, Chief Chukwuma Okoye, has condemned in its entirety the proposal by the Federal ministry of Agriculture for the establishment of cattle colonies for Fulani herdsmen in all states of the federation.

Reacting to the development at Isuaniocha, Chief Okoye who is the National President of the Promotion of Igbo Language and Culture, expects all progressive minded Nigerians and indeed all the Governors of the South East geo-political Zone to resist the move which he viewed as a grand design by a particular sect in the country to colonize other regions.

According to Chief Okoye, the proposal which suggests a hidden agenda if not nipped in the bud, will plunge the nation into chaos.

He regretted that most Nigerians from the southern part the country are noted for fence sitting on matters of urgent public attention, and therefore urged them to rise in defense of their rights.

The former Commissioner for Public Utilities and Education in the old Anambra State, further suggested that if justice and equality should prevail in Nigeria on the matter, the federal government should also propose the establishment of colonies across the federation for all categories of farmers and also provide a license for farmers to carry arms.

He regretted that in spite of the genocide in Benue state and other parts of the country by suspected herdsmen , no single arrest has been made which suggests a secret agenda.

Chief Okoye Commended the Anambra State House of Assembly for taken a resolution against the establishment of cattle colonies in the state and further called for the enactment of a law forbidding the provision of cattle colony in Anambra state.
