Student drowns to death in a Games resort

A 400-Level student of the Department of Electrical Electronics at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, Gabriel Chinonso, has drowned to death.

The student reportedly died while swimming at the pool of Yankari Games Resort, Bauchi.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kamal Abubakar, confirmed the incident to journalists in the state.

Abubakar said the men of the command were immediately deployed to the area after the incident was reported.

He said that Chinonso was recovered from the swimming pool with the hope that he would survive but died while receiving treatment after he was rushed to the Remee Clinic, GRA.

Abubakar said, “The student died an unnatural death with no foul play suspected.

“His corpse has been transferred from the Renee Clinic to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital mortuary, Bauchi.”
